Traineeship in Animal Care - Dog Walking

We offer a range of pet services in your local area including Dog Walking , Dog Boarding and Doggy Day Care.
We can offer care 7 days a week, even when your regular pet carer is on holiday or poorly.
How to get to placement (The logistics!);
- Driver (would be great) however Transport Links are available (Bus, train, minibus service etc)
- Public transport links also an option
- The employer also offering travel/lifts within a reasonable distance
What you will learn / The main duties (shadowing opportunities whilst on traineeship);
- Pick up and drop off dogs from their homes whilst ensuring the security of customers’ homes
- Transport dogs safely to and from their walks and homes in their own vehicle
- Understand special requests and specific conditions for each dog
- Walk dogs outdoors in all weather conditions (anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes at a time)
- Give each dog love and attention and treat the customer’s dogs as if they were their own
- Ensure each dog is getting plenty of exercises and a toilet break
- Ensure the safety of the dogs you are walking and anyone else around them
- Remove pet waste
- Take photos of the dogs for their owners and update them regularly
- Give fresh water, wipe paws and towel wet dogs down
Communicate with clients, including arranging visits with new customers
Ensure schedules are up to date each week
Cover for team sickness/holiday Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Walk for a few hours a day
- Lift, exercise, handle and restrain dogs
- Submit for a police and reference check (once offered a role)
- Look after dogs as if they are a member of the family
- Carry out some shadow walks before taking the job (during traineeship)
- Undergo training as required
- ONCE ON THE JOB – Use their car (insurance, tax and MOT required) Only needed if you complete the traineeship and get a job
- Have a reliable mobile phone and internet access Training and development
Criteria
- Are you unqualified or qualified up to a Level 3?
- Currently unemployed
- Aged between 19-24
- Own Transport (desirable)
